On behalf of the Aryaans family, we would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Gaurav Awasthi, an IIT- Bombay alumni, Ph.D. from MIT Boston and Madhur Bhatt, an IISER Kolkata alumni, currently doing his Ph.D. from University of Minnesota.

Gaurav Awasthi, with his wonderful presentation explained his expertise in chemical engineering, elaborating on the basics of chemical engineering and discussing the opportunities in the field. He continued by sharing his experience in his four rigorous years at IIT Bombay. Further, he discussed about his works at Rayon Institutions and the biochemical relations, explaining the classifications and functions of antibodies and antigens. Associating biology with chemical kinetics, he explained the antibody and antigens binding kinematics. He proceeded to discuss the goals of biochemistry by optimal selections of antibodies. Gaurav concluded his presentation with the complex yet intriguing sequencing of biochemical structures.

Following this, Madhur Bhatt started by sharing his small, yet loving experiences at MAHSS. He described his love for chemistry and discussed about the on-going global issues such as plastic pollution and increasing carbon dioxide emissions and the role of chemistry in curbing the tide and restoring ecological balance. Sharing his experiences at IISER and the entrance examinations he proceeded to brief us on the functions of catalysts, the “molecular matchmakers” in any reaction.

Continuing, Madhur elucidated about his first research, centred around conversion of gases into useful chemical compounds. Broadening the scope of oxidation of gases, Madhur proceeded to discuss about carbon dioxide gas and its possibilities in the vast ocean of Chemistry. His Ph.D. research was on plastics and polymers, by using carbon dioxide and butadiene as parent chemicals and developing recyclable monomers.

The talks, and the simple, yet brief explanations of such advanced and complex topics really held us intrigued and made this session even more fun and intriguing.

We once again thank Gaurav Awasthi and Madhur Bhatt for their time and invaluable wisdom and experiences. We are grateful to VPD sir for organising this engaging and enriching session.
