Report On Mrs. Amrapalli Das

The students of Mushtifund Aryaan Higher Secondary School , STD XI welcomed the much awaited speaker , Mrs. Amrapalli Das, Principal Commissioner of Income Tax, Goa. She was formally introduced by Miss Hetal G. and warmly welcomed by the Director of the Institute, Mr. Vyankatesh Prabhudesai.

Mrs. Das gave the students a brief overview of the Income Tax paradigm of the country. She spoke confirmatively of the structure of the Indian economy, the reasons for its stability, the impact of GST and demonetization and various other political decisions of the Income Tax Department. She busted numerous myths about the revenue collecting authorities of the Nation; and showed a clear picture of the Finance sector of the Government.

Speaking of the opportunities a Science graduate could look forward to, Mrs. Das informed the eager students about how they can specialize in the service sector in the field of their choice and interest after gaining experience in General services. Elaborating on Civil services as a lucrative career option, she stated that though it is a challenging and demanding field, yet it is the most satisfying.

Mrs. Das spoke about the extensive use of Technology in finance, with the I.T. department moving towards a painless system of transaction for the customer, e- assessment of taxes and how software or more generally science has bridged the gap between the various departments of the Government, and has made the Economic sector far more transparent. She encouraged us to be dutiful citizens and contribute to Nation building by paying regular Income Tax, and not to evade it as only 2 % of the current Indian population pays taxes, hence, there is a need for the tax base to grow.

The interaction ended with the most awaited question and answer session which was entirely coordinated by the Director , Vyankatesh Prabhudesai. Mrs. Das patiently answered all the queries with ease. David Velho, ex – student of the Institute was given an award of appreciation by the hands of Mrs. Amrapalli Das for his valuable contribution to the Institution by way of developing a Library Inventory program for the school library and also for creating and developing a software for OMR based paper correction. David Vehlo was also awarded a prize money of Rs.10,000 for this outstanding contribution.
