Great events happen in life when you least expect them to. The sunny morning of the 4th December witnessed something similar. The students of Class XI of Mushtifund Aryaan Higher Secondary School were in for a pleasant surprise. Mr. Manoj Caculo, one of Goa’s leading business tycoons and the current Chairman and Managing Director of the Caculo Group of Companies visited the Institute to address us. He was warmly welcomed by the Director of the Institute, Mr. Vyankatesh Prabhudesai.

Mr. Caculo started off with a cheerful greeting and I could tell that the students loved him almost immediately and everyone listened in rapt attention. He had decided to begin with the story of his life and like most successful people, his life was a very challenging one; with several hurdles. He joined his family business post completing his engineering and just like every young man to have walked this planet, he too was restless and eager to do something of significance; something out of the box. Most importantly, he had a vision: a one to bring about change and make a difference.

Mr. Caculo came up with the idea of opening Goa’s first one stop shopping destination : Caculo Mall, right in the heart of the city of Panjim. He told us that initially, no one believed in him; neither his financial advisors nor his C.A’s , but he had a very strong support system: his brother and his wife. After almost a year of rigorous planning and contemplating, the construction of Caculo Mall began. And there was no looking back since then.
He gave us valuable life lessons giving us an example of the Hungarian Olympian and Shooter Karoly Takacs and told us that just because one unfortunate incident occurs in our lives, it does not mean that we should give up. He also explained very beautifully the importance of having focus and self confidence in life without which most successful people in the world wouldn’t be where they are now.

The interaction ended with the question and answer session which was coordinated entirely by the Director of the Institute, Mr. Vyankatesh Prabhudesai. Mr. Caculo was very enthusiastic to answer the queries of the students ranging from taking risks in life, time management to life advice itself…His confidence, knowledge and experience impressed all of us and what we took away from this lively interaction was that in life in order to chase our dreams we need to focus and work with determination towards our vision.

We all really admire Mr. Caculo’s charismatic personality and his ability to influence people and definitely look forward for more such sessions!
