Inspiration is a slender river of brightness leaping from a vast and eternal knowledge, it exceeds reason more perfectly than reason exceeds the knowledge of the senses. The words of Sri Aurobindo’s wisdom strike close to the heart. Appearing as they are to the ears, they give a direction to the term we throw about without much thought.
But thought isn’t just everything, Inspiration is a sense made to be felt. It is the drive a human desperately needs to achieve something, a lullaby that lulls one to their goal – be it immediate or eons away.
Inspiration is hard to find, and yet finds us in moments we don’t see coming. True inspiration sticks, imprints itself and hold on tight to us. Inspiration is a mystery delightful to solve, but real talent and greatness to share.
And greatness it was, of Mr. Luis Martins, Ph.D. New York University, M. Phil, New York University, Herb Kelleher Chair in Entrepreneurship, James B. Goodson Professor in Business, Chair, and also a visiting famed Professor at IISB, Hyderabad, who inspired the collected lot of students of Mushtifund Aryaan Higher Secondary School, STD XI & XII. Mr. Luis Martins was warmly welcomed by the Director of the Institute, Mr. Vyankatesh Prabhudesai and formally introduced by one of the Senior faculty member of the Institute, Dr. Ketan Sardessai. Mr. Suhas Sardessai, Secretary of Mushtifund Saunstha, also said a few words on what a privilege it was to be in the presence of a great personality as Mr. Martins. Mr. Dilip Dharwadkar, Treasurer of Mushtifund Saustha, also attended the very intriguing interactive session.
He began with a brief history of his own struggles and everything that made him who is he is now. His achievements were proof that if one wishes, he can reach heights that never crossed another’s mind. His talk on entrepreneurship was indeed eye opening as he proceeded to give instances where others rose above the odds with ideas that crossed their minds that they didn’t dismiss to be nothing.
He spoke about Cirque De Soleil, a Canadian entertainment company, and the largest theatrical producer in the world. He spoke about Alegria, one of their performance filled with a language only understood as Gibberish; and nothing more! It shows the knack of involving an audience completely with the proceedings as they continue to try and decode the mystery of the sequences of sounds uttered.
He then spoke about other groups and companies, like the Blue man group, a performance art company known worldwide for its art and music performances. Venus Hum is another such electronic pop music group from Nashville.
Mr. Luis was also faced with multiple questions from the engrossed students, who were captivated by interest. The entire Question and answer session was coordinated by the Director, Vyankatesh Prabhudesai. As Mr. Luis answered some questions, he talked about there being two types of failures. One being a failed attempt after having vigorously tried, and the other not having tried at all due to the fear of failure. The latter will then keep the human in turmoil and regret, thinking that should he have tried, perhaps he would have succeeded, much after the hour has passed him by.
Mr. Martins, motivated the students further on, by saying that failure always has something to teach a person. One must try and try, until fate decides that failure has played enough part, and make way for the sweetness of success. He stated that everytime failure strikes, and every chance you give it another shot, there is a hope of success, but should one give up, the road ends right there !
Ending on just the right note with just the right words, he left all stupefied, and thinking, may be its time I do something big too!!
