Report On Annual Day 2019

Scene 1
Lights ….. Camera ………… aaaaannnnnd Action! …….
“Oh no ya! Come on my friend, work on your accent.. you can definitely do better than this!” exclaimed Soham ( a student from the Skit) in slight disappointment.
“Come on girls! We have to finish practicing this song thoroughly today! No breaks!” said Swarada ( a student from the girl’s dance group)
“Miss! Miss! Can you please see if this costume is ok for the Fashion Show?” said Mrugank ( a student). “Oh yes Mrugank, why don’t you call everyone for their costume check now so there is no confusion last minute. And tell everyone… no breaks till they finish the work assigned for today!”, said Ms. Hetal ( teacher in charge).
Scene 2:
VPD Sir : Hetal, this year we have the privilege to host the presence of some very great personalities on our Annual Day. Padmashree Dr. Kota Harinarayana distinguished alumnus of IITBHU, IIT Bombay & IISc Bangalore and Father of India’s prestigious Light Combat Aircraft Programme, Bhakti Kulkarni, Grandmaster & Chess champion and Mr. Rajashankar Ray, CEO, IFB!
Hetal: That’s really amazing Sir, but now I am really nervous.. We need to put up not a good, but a great show!!!
Wondering why you have to read these random conversations???
Well, this is how it works.. Success is when preparation meets opportunity. All the above scenarios were literally taking place in the campus of the Mushtifund Aryaan Higher Secondary School for the whole of December 2019! The students were preparing for the most awaited event of the year! Wait! No! its not the JEE Mains.. I am referring to the Grand Annual Social Gathering!
The behind the scenes planning, un-planning, trial and turmoil is what makes a show a great success… Aryaan’s Annual Social Gathering is undoubtedly a grand affair and the students work really hard to showcase their talents and efforts to make the program a treat to watch! Parents, Teachers, Students, Ex- Students, friends and family all gathered on the 28th of December at Ravindra Bhavan, Margao to witness some really entertaining acts lined up for them!

Tete a tete with Dr. Kota Harinarayana – by Vyankatesh Prabhudesai

Our Director, Mr.Vyankatesh Prabhudesai had the privilege to have a tete a tete with the world famous personality live in front of us, Dr. Kota Harinarayana. A man of wisdom, a kitty full of unprecedented and remarkable achievements and a warm smile on his face at all times, Dr. Kota brought in a sense of pride and honour amongst all of us for all being so humble on having acclaimed all that he has in his life.. After a warm exchange of the journey of life experiences between Prabhudesai Sir and Dr. Kota, the stage took the heat of the Debate on a very wisely chosen topic: Should Higher Education be subsidized in India? Both the teams presented their views brilliantly, countering their way through the tricky questions asked by the judges. Dr. Ketan Sardesai, coordinated the entire debate with ease and very tactfully kept the rebuttals in check!
After the brain workout .. Uh.. I mean the Debate, the audience was warmly welcomed with a semi classical dance performance exhibited by Shravani and Swarada. …It was now time to ease the senses.. Deeplaxmi and Prithwij ( anchors ) took the audience back in the memory lane, by inviting the Fashion Show which was themed to present How Love has evolved in the Bollywood industry over the years! It was indeed a pleasant treat to see the young students of today perform and enact the famous styles of yester years Dilip Kumar, Madhubala, Jitendra, Devanand , Vahida Rehman and the likes.
The spot prizes is literally an opportunity to wake up the audience and Aadi and Johann dint fail to do that! It was fun to watch students, judges and the parents enthusiastically participating and putting their best foot forward to win a spot prize!
The students of STD XI taking part in the band had had the most growth in the preparation process…. From the random off beat jamming sessions to making sure everything is in sync.. and I mean literally everything! From the guitar ( Vedantt, Hariharan & Varun) , to the Keyboard ( Manali) , to the Violin ( Elisheba) and the Singers ( Amit, Yuvraj, Tanusha, Siddhartha, Ravisha and Anirudh). All of them did a fantastic job with singing and grooving with the Old time melodies of Bollywood.
The STD XII students were no less in matching up to the spirit of the STD XI band. With Aditi on the keyboard, Manmeet, Kavish and Antash as Singers, Ian on the violin and Shriom on the tabla, these guys knew how to get the energies high of the audience!

The boys and girls of the STD XI showcased some of the most entertaining dance performances of the evening…. Oops.. morning! They grooved to the old and new songs of Bollywood and were thoroughly cheered by everyone from the crowd!
I was backstage when I heard loud cheering and roaring from the crowd. The stand up comedians were doing their job well. It was an exhilarating experience to see the audience from behind the wings, laughing out loud to the hilarious versions of views of our very own comedians ( Kavish, Manmeet, Soham & Noah ).
The skit written and directed exclusively by Soham ( student of STD XI ) was very well drafted, crafted and executed. Intense but surreal, the actors really got the audiences to put their thinking caps on!
This grand host of events came to an end with the most awaited … No ! Wait!.. not the Food! Not yet! The Prize distribution. Our Director with immense pride and satisfaction called out the achievements of our Ex – students who had created new records with their unprecedented performances in the State as well as the National Level Entrance exams, be it the Boards, JEE Advance, JEE Mains, BITSAT, AIIMS, NEET, MIT, VITEEE etc…
