TECH AND TRAVEL!

It was indeed a pleasure to have the very enthusiastic and warm Professor Merlyn D’Souza for an interactive session with the STD XI students of Mushtifund Aryaan Higher Secondary School on the 16th of November 2016.. She was warmly welcomed by the Director of the Institute, Mr. Vyankatesh Prabhudesai and within no time she won over the attention and affection of the students with her charismatic personality. From Goa to Leisture and back has been a long journey for her, a one she calls an adventure! The travel and tech freak that she is, she knows the who is who and what is where of the world!

The interactive session was about Science and technology.
The professor started off by giving us a brief background of her University, which included a power point presentation and a personal opinion and a few pictures; and then went on to personal experiences and the former’s role in the functioning of her department.

This interesting slide show was like a little window into what education was like in other countries, and it fascinated us to know that students could apply for financial aid if required and were amazed at the laboratories and the equipment available for use.

The students, although having studied most of what was discussed were still fascinated with what the professor brought to the table. From the University of Sheffield , the likes of which the students had never seen before, to the advancements in the fields of semi-conductors and solar panels, the students undoubtedly had their attention to a maximum.

The interaction ended with the Question and Answer session which was entirely coordinated by the Director, Mr. Vyankatesh Prabhudesai. The intrigued students were curious to know about the education system abroad and its future prospects. Professor Merlyn answered all the queries with ease and enthusiasm. She also guided the students with regards to different course combinations they could opt for and the job prospects they could avail with such a facility, at her University.

It was one of the most interesting lectures we all have attended.
