“Education is not the filling of a pot, but the lighting of a fire”
Mushtifund Aryans Higher Secondary School had the privilege of hosting two remarkable alumni — Mr. Tanmaye Heblekar and Dr. Siddhant Govekar — who returned to share their journeys and inspire the next generation.
Session by Mr. Tanmaye Heblekar
A gold medallist from MIT Manipal and now a Research Scholar at Texas A&M University, Mr. Tanmaye Heblekar has worked on major aircraft programmes at Bell Helicopter and Collins Aerospace, focusing on stabilising rotor vibrations and structural mechanics.
He spoke about his journey from Aryans to advanced research labs, emphasising the importance of internships, the value of trying new things, and the need to prioritise one’s happiness. He encouraged students to distance themselves from demotivating influences and remain curious. His talk also opened students’ eyes to the vastness of mechanical engineering beyond textbooks.
Session by Dr. Siddhant Govekar
The second speaker, Dr. Siddhant Govekar, gold medallist from AIIMS Rishikesh and Goa topper in IIT-JEE Mains 2020, offered a clear and honest perspective on the world of medicine.
He explained the different branches of medical study, the demanding hours doctors face, and the difficulties in diagnosing patients when symptoms do not match textbook descriptions. He also shared his research on Zebrafish models and AI-based heart disease detection, showing how the zebrafish — with its genetic similarity to humans — helps scientists study mutations and analyse medical data effectively.
Conclusion
Both sessions highlighted the power of perseverance, exploration, and self-belief. The school thanked Mr. Tanmaye Heblekar and Dr. Siddhant Govekar for their time and guidance, which left a deep impact on the students.
The students also expressed sincere gratitude to Mr. Vyankatesh Prabhudesai Sir for organising yet another inspiring and informative session that broadened their understanding of academic and career possibilities.
