On the 10th of Novemebr, we had the privilege of gaining insights into a journey marked
by innovation, dedication, and a relentless pursuit of excellence. Pant sir not only
provided us with a glimpse into the fascinating world of aerospace but also left us
inspired by the challenges and triumphs encountered along the way.
Sir spoke about the presentation that he presented at the prestigious conference in
Germany about the Hybrid Electric Multi Lobed Airships for Cargo Transportation, each
word of which was explained by Sir efficiently. Sir firstly gave a brief about the categories of
LTA systems are Aerodynes(Heavier than Air) and Pant sir’s forte, ie. Aerostates(LTA) and
hence the further features. Sir thenspoke about the Mission statement which is mainly Sustainable
aviation and the growing environmental concerns. HYBRID airship which has a trilobed envelope
instead of a single lobe and the hybridpropulsion which is based on 2 sequences instead of a single
sequence of processeswere two of the main aims.
The merits of Multi-lobed Airships, being large surface area-to-volume ratio, lower side
projected area, and many more, also attend to the concerns of the time taken, and the
fuel concerns are very well taken care of and hence ships and fuel-based airplanes need
not be used! Imagine the amount of cargo that can be transported in not much time and
without producing much harm to the environment! We really are heading towards a
more sustainable earth! Sir then spoke about the Multi-Disciplinary Sizing Methodology
and how it is divided into 5 main distinctions. The complexities of the Hybrid Propulsion
System, Mission Simulation, ie, Flight phase and more, and the Weight Breakdown and
how a payload of 47.2% is of high advantage were very well simplified by sir..
We were able to experience the city of Nuremberg, the Oktober Fest, and BMW World,
vicariously through the videos and pictures and the fun events that Sir narrated! Sir
really made the session interactive by engaging with us and answering our questions.
Pant sir’s ability to simplify complex concepts and make them accessible to all of us is
truly commendable. Sir’s anecdotes and real-world experiences have added a personal
touch to the technicalities of aerospace, making it relatable and inspiring for everyone
present. In conclusion, we expressed our sincere appreciation to Pant sir for an
enlightening and engaging discourse as well as sir VPD for inviting Pant sir, yet again
and for helping us broaden our horizons.
