Mr. Nilesh Nabar, currently the head of Intel Security’s Support and Services for the entire Asia Pacific region( APAC) , visited Mushtifund Aryaan Higher Secondary School and was warmly welcomed by the Director, Mr. Vyankatesh Prabhudesai on 4th May 16 and he was introduced by Hetal G ( Faculty at M.A.H.S.S.) for an interactive session with the students of STD XII.

Mr. Nabar started his career way back in 2007 with world renowned and leader in Computer Security, McAfee which was later acquired by Intel in 2011. Prior to joining Intel, Mr. Nabar has held various senior leadership positions in NetApp and Sun Microsystems in U.S.A.
With a vast experience of over 20 years, Mr. Nabar spoke to the students about Cyber Security and its various aspects, threats and precautionary measures.

To explain better, Mr. Nabar had prepared a presentation. He explained to the students how Electronics is involved in every aspect of our lives because of which the possibility of cyber crimes have multiplied manifold. Giving an example of a car, he said that even a car has an I P Address which allows hackers to cause damage. Giving statistics of the alarming increased rate of cyber crime, he stated that there are 345 new threats introduced per minute or rather 6 per second!
Giving the students a lot of technical data about the various things a Security company like his must keep in mind before launching a security product, Mr. Nabar said that they need to benchmark on the basis of three things: Confidentiality , Integrity and the Availability or the Access to data. Based on these things they design a suitable security product. To make the students understand better, Mr. Nabar gave simple examples like a house of Straw and how it is very easy to cause damage to it considering the Vulnerability, Risk and Threat factors. He compared it with a house of bricks which is almost impossible to damage keeping the Vulnerability, Risk and Threat in mind, thereby, explaining that if the data is less vulnerable then the risk automatically reduces.

Warning the students, Mr. Nabar informed them about the latest virus , Ransomware which comes as an attachment in the email and encrypts the data. So one must be very careful before opening such attachments he said. Speaking of precautionary measures, Mr. Nabar said that one must not use public wifi or cyber cafes to access to highly confidential data like bank transactions etc, as these networks are not secured. When the Director asked about how an Institute can secure its information on its website, Mr. Nabar informed him that the services of a security company must be hired so that they can either encrypt the data to keep it secured or build a framework/firewall around the website so that hackers cannot penetrate to cause any damage.

There was a Question and Answer session held after the presentation, which was entirely coordinated by the Director, Mr. Vyankatesh Prabhudesai. Mr. Nabar answered all the queries with enthusiasm.

At the end of the session, M.A.H.S.S. Student, Aby Jose was awarded by the hands of Mr. Nilesh Nabar, a Certificate and a prize of Rs.15,000/- ( from the Aryaan Study Circle Trust) for his outstanding performance in IIT JEE Main for securing a score of 285 and also for scoring 120 / 120 in Chemistry. His Chemistry teacher, Mr. Sripati Suryadilip was also given a token of appreciation.

The students thoroughly enjoyed the interactive session with Mr. Nilesh Nabar.
