The “Power”ful Man!
On the 23rd of January, 2019, our school , Mushtifund Aryaan Higher Secondary School had the privilege of interacting with one of Goa’s most proactive and forward thinking Ministers, Mr.Nilesh Cabral, a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party and represents the Curchorem constituency in the Goa legislative assembly.He holds the portfolios of Power, Non-Conventional Energy, Law & Judiciary as well as Legislative Affairs.
He began by explaining to students the way Goa procures power from other states such as Chattisgarh. He then launched into a detailed and interactive discussion, explaining to the students everything from transformer overloading which is one of the major problems faced by the electricity department to the maintenance of street lamps.
Mr. Cabral answered many of the student’s burning questions on the ins and outs of the electricity department in great detail. One of the highlights of the interaction was the discussion of renewable energy during which Mr. Cabral shared his innovative ideas he plans to implement in Goa to promote generation of greener energy such as installation of solar panels in houses where power that is not used by the house will go into the grid and installation of mini wind turbines on the side of the highway to generate energy.
The introduction and effects of electric buses and taxis was also discussed .
Mr.Cabral enthusiastically shared all his future plans for Goa and all the measures he plans to put in place as well as anti corruption schemes and the ability to access application forms on the internet.
He is passionate about giving back to society and had expressed his need to give back to the people rather than just save all his money.
Mr. Nilesh Cabral is truly an inspiring person and meeting him and interacting with him was a great privilege and honour which was all thanks to VPD Sir who continues to not only inspire us students himself but bring emminent personalities to inspire and motivate us as well.
