Just Do “I.I.T!”
The interactive session started off with the Director of Mushtifund Aryaan Higher Secondary School, Mr.Vyankatesh Prabhudesai giving a formal introduction of the dignitary who had been invited for a brief session with the students. Mr. Dinar Bhatkar, the first Goan to become Member of Board of Governors at IIT Bombay, and was also awarded the Distinguished Service award by IIT Bombay. Mr. Bhatkar high on energy got the young minds intrigued at once!
Using a tinge of humour and apt anecdotes, he gave real life lessons and values which one must imbibe. He stressed on how one must follow one’s dreams irrespective of all hurdles and never compete with someone but oneself. HE said that one must, each day take a step ahead in getting better and become a better version of oneself.
He mentioned about the scope, benefits, research opportunities and facilities offered by I.I.T’s. With the knowledge of his vast experience at the I.I.T., he could assure that I.I.T’s do have a lot more to offer apart from excellent academics which serve instrumental in developing the overall personality of a student.
He reiterated that one should not study only focussing on the exams but rather seek to gain and gather knowledge so that it can be applied in our day to day lives. There is a difference between studying and learning and that was the point he was trying to drive home.
The extremely engaging session with Mr. Bhatkar was highly inspiring! The interaction came to a close with the question and answer session which was entirely coordinated by the Director, Mr. Vyankatesh Prabhudesai. Mr. Bhatkar’s experience and expertise in the field of education definitely left us motivated. Such lessons which are otherwise not found in textbooks encouraged us to live up to our maximum potential!
