Today we hosted an insightful online session by Mr. Yashovardhan Jha Azad, retired IPS officer and former Special Director of the Intelligence Bureau, on “Growing Terror in India and Ways to Tackle It.” He explained how terrorism has shifted from cross-border attacks to digital and ideological warfare, using real incidents to highlight ground realities. Mr. Azad urged students to stay alert online, build strong digital habits, and avoid falling for propaganda. He also spoke about India’s modern intelligence upgrades, including drones and smart border systems, while stressing that public unity and trust are equally important. The session concluded with an excellent Q&A, leaving students more aware and responsible towards national security.

He also covered his fascinating account of dealing closely with Pakistani security officers during the 2004 India–Pakistan cricket tour, when he served as the Chief Security Liaison Officer for the Indian cricket team. His description of the coordination, the sensitivity of the situation, and how both sides ensured smooth conduct of the tour added tremendous insight to the session.

Our XI student Sanika Takkekar did an outstanding job with the summary and vote of thanks — crisp, confident, and very well delivered. I am enclosing a detailed report prepared by her which will be loaded on our site soon.

After the vote of thanks, I mentioned to Mr. Jha that I am a great admirer of Atal Bihari Vajpayee, especially since he had just described Vajpayee as one of the finest Prime Ministers of India. I asked whether he had come across any other politician who refrained from criticising others, including opposition MLAs and MPs.

He replied that Jawaharlal Nehru was also like Vajpayee in this regard, and to substantiate this, he narrated a couple of very interesting experiences involving Nehru and Vajpayee— which was an unexpected and enriching addition to the session.
